Snorkling and Other Stories

Snorkling

So I went snorkling like I said. I got a few nice pictures and there's a story that involves me single-handedly boarding a pirate ship but that's for another time!
PICTURES!!:

 The beginning of Finding Nemo...

Some of them were really colourful but it was hard to get a good photo with the camera I had because I couldn't see the screen underwater.

What we saw from the boat was amazing though!

They were awesome. Followed them for about 20 minutes on the boat. They're dolphins by the way if you didn't get that... which you really should!

The Well

So we were saying for a few days that the sewage smell comeing from the drains was getting worse. Then it turned out that the smell was coming from the water.

This is the well. We get our sink, shower, and toilet water from it but our drinking water comes from somewhere else.
After having a shower and coming out smelling worse than when I went in, which was some feat, a few of us decided to have a look down and see what we could see.
This is what we saw.
That's a Giant Pouch Rat. A really really dead one. That's what we'd been showering in and cooking with for the past couple of weeks. And it had DEFINITELY been down there a couple of weeks.
Some people were a little sad because they thought it might be Steven (the pouch rat that lives in the attic) since he hadn't left any "presents" around recently. He was running around today though so it wasn't him in the end.
They're quite cute little things when they're alive. I think I put this one up before:
But anyway, we sat around for about an hour trying to figure out how to get it out. Raphael the handyman wasn't answering his phone.
There were a few failed attempts. The final one was lowering down a waste basket with slits in the sides and a big rock in it, tied to two 10 metre measuring tapes. Measuring tapes left blisters on my fingers, but I eventually managed to scoop the bugger up.

His fur and outer layer of skin had melted away or something and his bones had basically disintegrated.
He smelled rancid aswell and it was 100% the same smell coming from the taps. Fairly disgusting, but don't I look so handsome in my superman pjs?

  2. yeah im wearing gloves but still got dead rat juice all over me! smelled delish...
No you can't swim with dolphins. Something about the oil on human hands is bad for them. Wouldn't look good GVI being conservationists.

  4. Sent from my iPad What about flipper and fungi ?? How many millions of people swam with them and I'm sure pulled out of their fins. How interesting! I also saw a programme whereby once you touch coral it dies. Nature is so delicate, so much we don't know and so much we do and ignore. Batman is one lucky owner, a GVI grad! I can't bear to think of that rat.... Mind you a Dublin pub on. Saturday night is probably more lethal than Stephen,......or was it Stephen!!,

  5. I'm focussing on the pyjamas dude. Only focussing on the pyjamas. Just keep talking to me about the pyjamas, and the dolphins, yes I can do dolphins. And the nemos.... Lovely. Ok I have to say it. YOU HAVE BEEN SHOWERING, WASHiNG UR HAIR etc IN HIGHLY CONTAMINATED RAT WATER??!!! Are u kidding me? And u haven't been sick? Hope you had no open wounds or anything??? Ok here comes the list. 1. Boil everything to oblivion when cooking. 2. Don't even gargle with anything other than totally cleared drinking water. 3. Wash your hands, then wash them again before you eat. And preferably use hand sanitizer too. 4. Keep taking all the vaccination meds man! Ciara x
